KCI Express Security Information

KCI is committed to helping provide a secure site for your facility’s information. To help prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy and ensure the appropriate use of information, we have put in place several physical, electronic, and managerial procedures. These procedures help safeguard and secure the information we collect and store through KCI Express™.

KCI has developed this site to meet the required standards of the current HIPAA Security Regulations. KCI has integrated the following security measures into this site to address security compliance:

Passwords

During the set up of your account you will choose one of your employees to act as the Administrator. The Administrator will assign users to the account and oversee individual user passwords. The only way to access the account is through the individual user ID and password.

Encryption

KCI encrypts data between your web browser and our secure servers using Secure Socket Layer (SSL). SSL is a widely used coding system that lets your browser automatically encrypt or scramble data when you send it. The encryption process takes the characters you enter and converts them into bits of code (KCI uses, at a minimum, 128 bit encryption) that are then securely transmitted over the Internet. This secure connection encrypts all information so that information passed between your computer and our website cannot be read in the unlikely event that it is intercepted by someone who is unauthorized.

Auditing

KCI has auditing functions in place that capture approval authorities, action agents, and actions taken for all pertinent activities.

Monitoring

Our network is continuously monitored (24/7, 365 days a year). We are immediately informed of any potential problem so that it is rectified before your service is affected.

Training/Policies

KCI has implemented both security and privacy policies and procedures within our organization. Only those employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to your information. Furthermore, all of our employees attend mandatory privacy and security training sessions and are kept updated on our privacy and security practices.

Even with the implementation of certain security measures, no transmission of data over the Internet or any other public network can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. In addition, as is the case with any web-based communication, KCI cannot guarantee against all breaches of security occurring from events beyond its reasonable control. Likewise, KCI cannot protect against user error or misuse, including failure to follow user facility security and privacy policies.

Your first use of KCI Express™ confirms your agreement to and understanding of the terms and conditions explained in our Terms of Use, which describes in detail all aspects of using our services. You are responsible for keeping your password, personal identification information and other account data confidential; ensuring proper use of the service; ensuring accurate input of any data; ensuring your computers are not left unattended (e.g., log out to end your KCI Express™ session); breaches of security in your facility’s systems, computers and networks; and your employees security and privacy training among other things not within KCI’s reasonable control.
