Corporate Responsibility

Corporate Giving

Image of KCI employees

At the heart of KCI is our commitment to contributing positively to the communities in which we live and work. This includes financial contributions to community-based programs that make a difference in people’s lives. Our efforts are focused on programs that improve the health and well-being of people around the world as well as on programs that enhance children’s educational experience and encourage the development of strong future leaders.

Ahmed & Mohamed

One example of KCI giving back is the story of Ahmed and Mohamed Ibrahim, eight-year-old craniopagus twins successfully separated during a well-documented and risky 34-hour operation in 2003. Kinetic Concepts Inc. helped make this surgery a success by developing and donating a one-of-a-kind operating table aimed at helping surgeons stay upright for the extended surgery.

In celebration of the six-year anniversary of the surgery, KCI announced it was donating $25,000 to CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children's Hospital in Ahmed's and Mohamed's names. This gift is designed to make families’ extended hospital stays more comfortable and coincides with a KCI employee book drive, KCI’s D.R.E.A.M. (Delivering Reading Enjoyment for Ahmed and Mohamed). The KCI employees' goal is to collect 2,000 children’s books for the hospital’s reading room.

KCI Servant’s Heart Foundation

The KCI Servant’s Heart Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization funded by employee contributions. The Foundation offers financial assistance to charitable organizations in need, focusing on small- to medium-sized charities that benefit children, education or healthcare in the communities in which we live and work. A volunteer group of KCI employees reviews the grant requests and allocates Foundation funds accordingly.

Community Involvement

Our involvement in the community goes well beyond our corporate philosophy. It can be seen in the hearts and actions of our employees every day. Every employee at KCI is provided 16 hours per year of paid time to participate in community or charitable projects. We have hundreds of employees who volunteer significantly more of their own time to worthwhile causes.
