Mechanism of Action
Autologous epidermal skin grafting is a minimally invasive treatment option for the closure of wounds. Epidermal skin grafting was shown to be successful on superficial, granulated wounds that are free of necrotic tissue and surrounding infection. Watch the mechanism of action video below to learn more.
The CelluTome™ Epidermal Harvesting System is intended to reproducibly harvest a thin skin graft for autologous skin grafting.
The reusable components of the CelluTome™ Epidermal Harvesting System:
The Control Unit creates and regulates the vacuum and warming required to raise the epidermal microdomes.
The Vacuum Head and tubing deliver the vacuum and warming from the Control Unit.
The disposable component of the CelluTome™ Epidermal Harvesting System:
The Harvester holds the suction microdomes that are raised for procurement. A 3M™ Tegaderm™ Film (catalog number: 1624W) is inserted into the Harvester prior to cutting the microdomes. The 3M™ Tegaderm™ Film with the microdomes is then applied to the recipient site.
NOTE: Specific indications, contraindications, warnings, precautions and safety information exist for KCI products and therapies. Before use, physicians must review all risk information and essential prescribing information which can be found in the CelluTome™ Epidermal Harvesting System Instructions for Use. Rx only.
The CelluTome™ System produces an array of epidermal micrografts ready for immediate transfer onto a recipient site.

Automated, uniform process
The harvesting procedure is precise and reproducible, raising uniform microdomes (photo: Full microdome formation, optimal microdome height with clear fluid encapsulated in microdome, ready to harvest into micrografts.)
Effective harvesting procedure
The CelluTome™ System consistently harvests epidermis at the dermal-epidermal junction, including basal keratinocytes. (photo: Histological microdome cross-section; 100X magnification. BK = basal layer keratinocyte; SC = stratum corneum.)
Viable Epithelium for Skin Grafting
The micrografts harvested contain undamaged tissue for grafting to a recipient site. (photo: LIVE/DEAD® stained epidermal micrograft with Calcein AM dye; green staining indicates live cells.)
Cells grow outwards from the micrograft edge demonstrating that the cells are not damaged during acquisition. (photo: Keratinocyte outgrowth over time, cultured in EpiLife® Medium. cytoskeleton, green; plasma membrane, red; nucleus, blue; 100X magnification)
