Step One: Talk to Your Nurse Manager or WOCN.
If you are interested in wound care and building your skill sets, let your Nurse Manager or WOCN know. They are actively looking for Staff Nurses to enhance their training and become “Wrens”.
Step Two: Complete Your Training.
Your WOCN will work with you to provide training support you need to get started. The recommended V.A.C.® WRN™ training includes a series of one-hour V.A.C.® Therapy training sessions, consisting of lectures and hands-on learning.
Step Three: Incorporate Your New Skills. As a participant, or “Wren”, you may earn new wound care responsibilities within the facility, as determined by your Nurse Manager and WOCN. This will include certain V.A.C.® Therapy applications, as deemed appropriate by the WOCN within your facility.
