Four Easy Steps

Step One: Build Consensus.
The WOCN, Nurse Managers and Facility Administration should discuss the potential advantages of the V.A.C.® WRN Program and work together to implement it.

Step Two: Identify Staff Nurses.
The WOCN should select and approach staff nurses to become WRNs. These will likely be top-performing, highly motivated individuals who are interested in wound care.

Step Three: Implement Training of Staff Nurses.
A KCI Representative will work with the WOCN to provide training support as needed. The V.A.C.® WRN training includes a series of one-hour V.A.C.® Therapy training sessions, consisting of lectures and hands-on approaches.

Step Four: Incorporate WRN’s New Skills.
WOCNs and Nurse Managers can work together to determine the responsibilities their WRNs will have within the facility, and help implement them.
