Approximately 127 million U.S. adults (64.5%) are overweight, 60 million U.S. adults (30.5%) are obese and 9 million (4.7%) are severely obese3.
A 1998 study of National costs attributed to both overweight and obesity may have reached as high as $46.2 billion in 20024.
