Course Objectives:
- Define Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT)
- Identify mechanisms of action of V.A.C.® Therapy
- Discuss the clinical and economic studies supporting V.A.C.® Therapy
- Identify the clinical indications for V.A.C.® Therapy, V.A.C.® Instill® Therapy and V.A.C.® Abdominal Dressing
- Describe Contraindications, Warnings and Precautions for V.A.C.® Therapy, V.A.C.® Instill® Therapy and V.A.C.® Abdominal Dressing
- Describe and identify components of the V.A.C.® Therapy System and their function and operation
- Describe the two types of foam dressings used in V.A.C.® Therapy and indications for each
- Identify appropriate pressure settings
- Demonstrate proper use of the V.A.C.® System including operation of the therapy unit and application of V.A.C.® Dressings
