Pathways to Excellence – Professional Tier
The "Professional Tier" lays the groundwork by offering a complete course on basic V.A.C.® Therapy, featuring both didactic and skill lab segments.  This program should be completed by all clinicians who place V.A.C.® Therapy for the first time.  Updated information, products and applications also make this a must for current V.A.C.® users needing a refresher course on V.A.C.® Therapy application.
 
 
Course Objectives:
  • Define Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT)
  • Identify mechanisms of action of V.A.C.® Therapy
  • Discuss the clinical and economic studies supporting V.A.C.® Therapy
  • Identify the clinical indications for V.A.C.® Therapy, V.A.C.® Instill® Therapy and V.A.C.® Abdominal Dressing
  • Describe Contraindications, Warnings and Precautions for V.A.C.® Therapy, V.A.C.® Instill® Therapy and V.A.C.® Abdominal Dressing
  • Describe and identify components of the V.A.C.® Therapy System and their function and operation
  • Describe the two types of foam dressings used in V.A.C.® Therapy and indications for each
  • Identify appropriate pressure settings
  • Demonstrate proper use of the V.A.C.® System including operation of the therapy unit and application of V.A.C.® Dressings
